Welcoming Our 4th Cohort of EMJM PROMISE Students

This September, we had the pleasure of welcoming the 4th cohort of students to the EMJM PROMISE program in the northern city of Oulu, Finland. Representing 17 different nationalities, our new students came together for the official Kick-Off Meeting, marking the beginning of an exciting academic and cultural journey.

The event opened with a warm greeting from Saija Lukkanen, Head of the Department at Oulu Mining School, followed by inspiring words from Professor Jukka Majava, Dean of Education. After a short coffee break, our students had the opportunity to hear from lecturers and professors of Oulu Mining School, who shared their insights and extended a heartfelt welcome.

Later, our Consortium partners, Claudio Acuña, Gordan Bedeković, Helmut Flachberger, and Wolfgang Ofner, introduced the universities that make up the program and offered valuable advice to help students navigate their first semester.

The EMJM PROMISE program is a truly global collaboration, bringing together four leading universities:

  • University of Oulu (Finland)
  • Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria)
  • University of Zagreb (Croatia)
  • Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile)

Students begin their journey in Oulu (1st semester), continue in Leoben (2nd semester), and then choose between Chile or Croatia for the 3rd semester. Finally, they complete their studies with a Master’s thesis (4th semester) at one of our associated partner institutions.

We are excited to see this new group embark on their journey, and we wish them success, growth, and unforgettable experiences ahead. Let’s give our students a warm welcome as they face the challenges and opportunities that lie before them!
